Some
say the global economic recession may be ending, but are the solutions
sustainable? David Semple offers analysis on what the world’s major
industrialized countries doing to balance their economies and coordinate
macroeconomic reforms.
Mr. Semple will address the topic of globalization and
increasing interconnectedness of the world's economies, summarizing with a
discussion of specific regions, countries, and sectors that are beneficiaries or
losers as a result of these trends. Mr. Semple will draw upon his expertise from
the The Fund he manages presently with concentrations in China, Brazil, S.
Korea, Taiwan, India, Russia, S. Africa, Kazakhstan, and Turkey.
David Semple is the Director of International Equity, Van Eck
Global Investment Team Member, Van Eck Global. As Director of International
Equity, Mr. Semple is responsible for asset allocation and stock selection in
global emerging markets and serves as portfolio manager of Van Eck Emerging
Markets Fund and Van Eck Worldwide Insurance Trust’s Worldwide Emerging Markets
Fund. From 1996-1998, Mr. Semple served as sub-advisory co-portfolio manager
of Van Eck Worldwide Emerging Markets Fund at Peregrine Asset
Management. Before that he was a regional strategist at Peregrine
Brokerage.
